MOBILE OPERATIONS

How to Use BEWMS with a Handheld Terminal

With a handheld terminal, BEWMS does more than read barcodes. Operator Mobile manages target rack, item, quantity, tote and verification inside the same picking task.

1. Which screen is used?

Warehouse staff use Operator Mobile / Handheld. Single Order, Multi-Order, Active Picking, Pack Preparation and other mobile warehouse operations are available in the same workflow.

The operator sees the rack, item and quantity needed for the task without navigating desktop management screens.

2. How picking starts

For single or multi-order picking, BEWMS can require the tote barcode first. In a multi-order task the tote is linked to the active task.

When the task starts the first target rack is shown; later picking steps follow the task plan.

3. Rack and item barcodes are verified

The correct target rack and item barcode are verified. A wrong barcode does not allow the normal picking flow to advance.

Alternative-rack or voice workflows do not bypass barcode verification.

4. Multi-order picking

In Multi-Order picking, multiple orders can be handled inside one task. The terminal shows target rack, item, quantity and tote context.

There is no fixed '4-5 orders' rule; grouping depends on operational settings and eligible orders.

5. Reducing unnecessary movement

Picking steps are organized with product and location context to reduce unnecessary back-and-forth movement.

BEWMS is not described as a navigation system that guarantees the mathematical shortest walking path in every warehouse; it organizes operational picking order using real location data.

6. Missing / damaged item

If an item is missing, use Alternative Rack. If no real alternative stock exists the step can wait in STOCK_EXCEPTION / Trouble Station.

For damaged items use Picking Exceptions; the unit is not completed as normal good stock.
